RICHARD CORNELL

Most importantly, Richard is a follower of Jesus Christ.

He has been working on cars since he was a small boy. Once his parents bought him an erector set at 5 years old, he never looked back. A licensed mechanic and clay sculptor, he has worked both in prototype companies and with Ford and GM.  He restored his own 442 in 1997 and achieved a score of 993 out of 1000 at an Oldsmobile Club of America national meet. By 2015 he had worked on clay modeling some of Ford and GM's most iconic cars and trucks.

His background in aviation paint has led to accomplishment in aerodynamics, engineering, and to A&P experience.

In the twelve years he worked in automotive prototype Richard made his way from craftsman to vehicle build leader and paint shop manager. Using over a dozen paint manufacturers' products in hundreds of colors including candy and pearlescent finishes, he became one of south east Michigan's finest certified automotive paint technicians.

As a clay sculptor, he worked on scale and full-size models in large scale design studios with stylist, design aid and design engineering departments for fifteen years.

Richard bought his first car, a 1965 Oldsmobile 442, a year before he was eligible for a driver's license. Once he hit that birthday, the car and Richard were ready to go.

He has been an Oldsmobile Club of America member for over 30 years.

Richard has acquired first hand experience of all things automotive from several years before a car hits the showroom to after 50 years of use and abuse.  He is now pursuing his dream of restoring classic and special interest cars to their best possible drivability and appearance, while maintaining their historical integrity.

Richard is also a licensed residential home builder.
